The City of Oconomowoc provides community wide parks and recreation services through the Parks and Recreation Department with policies and budget development determined by the Parks and Recreation Board.

The department has two divisions:

The Recreation division is responsible for providing recreational programs and activities for all age groups. These include sports leagues and programs, leisure and fitness classes, and youth and adult instructional programs. In addition, the department cooperates with and assists many Oconomowoc groups, organizations and clubs to provide recreation services throughout the community and surrounding area. The activities are planned year round and are published in the department’s seasonal brochures, which are available to all residents three times a year. SUMMER – available in late April, FALL – available in August, WINTER – available in early November.

The Park/Forestry division is responsible for 31 park sites and designated open space areas totaling over 200 acres of which approximately 110 acres are active type land suitable for recreation areas and facilities. They are also responsible for maintaining the urban forest. Major responsibilities include routine maintenance of facilities and equipment, providing support services for recreation programs, and park improvements and development.
